    Privacy Policy

    Last updated: 4 November 2026

    Who we are

Calm Corner is operated in the United Kingdom and registered as a data controller with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (registration number ZA352886). We take your privacy seriously and aim to collect as little personal information as possible. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your rights under UK GDPR.

    What the app does

Calm Corner offers free grounding, breathing and mindfulness exercises, a stress self-assessment quiz, an optional private journal, and educational reading. Core exercises can be opened without an account. Saving account activity and using Premium features have different access requirements.

    Information we collect

    • Account data (optional): If you choose to create an account, we store your email address and authentication details. Passwords are securely hashed, not stored as readable passwords. Account details support sign-in, saved resources, activity history, subscription access and service emails.
    • Messages you send us: If you use the contact form, we keep your name, email address and message so we can reply. We do not add you to a mailing list from that form.
    • Your journal: Entries written on the Journal page are saved in this browser on this device, including when signed in. They do not automatically sync to your account. Someone else using the same browser may be able to read them. Account-connected journal records created through connected tools are stored separately; records you explicitly share can be opened through their sharing link.
    • Quiz results, check-ins and saved activity: Signed-in results and resource activity are stored with your account for your Saved page. Without signing in, today's check-in choice stays in this browser and is not sent as account activity. If you have a therapist-assigned place, technique activity is shared with that practitioner only when you opt in; assigned worksheet opens are recorded for the assigning practitioner.
    • Settings: Accessibility preferences and app settings are stored locally on your device.
    • Usage analytics: Only if you allow analytics, site visits and interaction events help us understand which resources are used (see Cookies below). Hosting analytics may include device type and approximate country. These are separate from your private account activity and the text you write in the Journal page.
    • AI chat assistant: If you use the in-app chat, you need to sign in and have Premium access. Your messages and preceding conversation are sent through Lovable AI Gateway to an AI model provider to generate a reply. The app keeps this chat in memory while the assistant is open; it does not save it as journal entries. Clearing the chat removes the app's displayed conversation, not any provider-side records. Provider retention, training use and processing location have not been confirmed here, so do not assume the chat stays on your device or is processed only in the EU. Avoid names, contact details or other identifying information.

    Cookies and your choices

    • Essential storage (always on): keeps you signed in, remembers your settings, disclaimer and cookie choice, and lets Premium and payments work. The site cannot work without it.
    • Optional analytics (off until you allow it): records which pages and resources are opened, button clicks, PDF downloads, page-speed measurements and how you arrived (for example a search engine or campaign link). This is stored in our own Lovable Cloud database and used only to improve the app and is not shared with advertisers.
    • Optional advertising measurement (a separate choice): if you allow it, we load the Google Ads tag, which uses cookies and your browser and device details to tell Google Ads (Google Ireland Ltd / Google LLC) when a practitioner membership starts after someone clicked one of our ads. We use this to measure our ads and let Google optimise where they appear. We do not send your name, email, journal, wellbeing activity or any client information, and we do not use it for remarketing. In the UK, EU, EEA, Switzerland and where your location is unknown, it stays off unless you allow it; elsewhere it is on unless you turn it off. You can withdraw at any time via Cookie settings. See how Google uses information.
    • Your choice: we save whether you chose "Allow analytics" or "Essential only", when, and which version of this notice you saw. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page; it takes effect straight away.
    • Hosting statistics: our hosting provider may count basic visits (such as device type and approximate country) without cookies to run the service.

    What we do not collect

Core exercises do not require access to your contacts, microphone, camera or precise GPS location. Practitioners may choose to upload a practice logo. Information you choose to enter in reflections, check-ins, quizzes or AI messages can be sensitive; only enter what you are comfortable providing.

    How we use your information

    • To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
    • To save and sync account resources, quiz history and check-ins across your devices; device-only journal entries are not synced.
    • To improve the app based on usage patterns.
    • To respond to support enquiries you send us.
    • To send account and subscription messages, worksheet notifications and reminders you choose to receive. Optional emails include an unsubscribe link.

Optional reminders can be changed in your account. Service messages such as sign-in and worksheet notifications are separate from optional wellbeing reminders.

Our legal bases for using your information

    • Contract: to provide your account, sync saved resources and activity, deliver assigned worksheets and manage your subscription.
    • Consent: for optional analytics, advertising measurement and the gentle reminder emails you can choose to receive. You can withdraw either at any time using "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page or in your account settings.
    • Legitimate interests: to keep the app secure, prevent abuse and fraud, and reply to enquiries you send us.

    Subscriptions and payments

Calm Corner Premium is an auto-renewing subscription (£4.99 monthly or £39.99 yearly), cancellable at any time. Free tools remain free.

    • On the web, payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details — we keep only a customer reference, your plan, its status and renewal date.
    • In the iOS and Android apps, purchases are processed by Apple or Google and managed through RevenueCat, which tells us whether your subscription is active. Apple and Google do not share your payment details with us.
    • Your subscription renews automatically until you cancel. You can cancel at any time in your account settings, or in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings for in-app purchases. Refunds for in-app purchases are handled by Apple or Google under their own terms.

    Where your data is stored

Account records are stored in Lovable Cloud's EU-hosted database with encryption in transit and at rest. The Journal page stores entries in your browser instead. Email delivery, Stripe, Apple/Google, RevenueCat and AI processing are separate services; the database's EU location does not establish where all of those services process data.

    Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to withdraw consent at any time. You can delete your account from Your account. Device-only journal entries must be deleted in the Journal page or by clearing this site's browser data; account deletion does not clear them. The Journal page also lets you download your entries as a PDF. For an account-data export or other rights requests, use the contact page. We will respond within 30 days.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your personal data, you can raise it with us first, or lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.

    Children

This app is intended for users aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16.

    Not a medical service

Calm Corner provides educational and self-help tools. It is not a substitute for professional medical or mental health care. If you are in crisis, please contact Samaritans on 116 123 (UK) or your local emergency services.

    Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "last updated" date above.
